The Nutrition/Wellness Director creates and leads the strategic plan for the Cura clinical nutrition, culinary, and menu management teams. This individual oversees all menu systems, maintenance and implementation, clinical nutrition and culinary innovation and provides a high level of collaboration with various teams including operations, marketing, purchasing, training, and Cura personnel. This leadership position is responsible for regulatory compliance ensuring policy and procedures are best practice and ensuring we are meeting our client, patient and resident needs.

This role includes a significant amount of time leading and building our strategic plan for our menu systems management and implementation, sales and proposal support, leading company wellness and food safety communications, providing nutrition and wellness content and responses for proposals, sales presentations, and specialized in-unit filed support as needed.

Integrating brands, developing programs and implementation for the Cura Brand in clinical nutrition, menu management, and culinary to ensure we are supporting our operations and client needs in Senior Living, Acute Care and Behavioral Health.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic plan for program development in the areas of clinical nutrition, menu management and culinary innovation.

  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and supervision to clinical resource managers, Menus Systems Coordinators and culinary leadership team.

  • Provide on-going performance feedback and annual performance appraisals for direct reports. Responsible for developing Wellness team management business objectives (MBO’s) and routine performance feedback and coaching.

  • Oversee all menu systems maintenance and training resources for CBORD, SureQuest, TrackNow, and applicable nutrition support tools and systems.

  • Ensures Wellness team provides timely and accurate menu changes and nutrition review and approval for all business segments.

  • Participates in menu development with culinary team ensuring nutritionally balanced menus.

  • Leads company Safe Food First communications and food service health inspections / audit tracking and trend reporting for Cura. Serves as a food safety and regulatory compliance resource for Cura.

  • Ensure Wellness support team provides nutrition, software, and regulatory compliance monitoring within business segment.

  • Develop and maintain Nutrition and Wellness department overhead budget and ensure monthly and annual budget goals are met. Maintain accurate monthly support services cost transfers.

  • Responsible for leading strategy and implementation for nutrition labeling and total calorie display within all segment based on federal guidelines and business needs.

  • Oversees development of all unit level clinical nutrition tools to be used by dietitians.

  • Responsible for assessing Registered Dietitian staffing needs for new units and supports the recruiting and hiring process.

  • Leads development of Dietetic Intern program and on-going collaboration with local colleges and universities.

  • Assists in sales process including attending pre-bid meetings, proposal development support, sales presentations, and menu development for potential clients.

  • Serves as a company subject matter expert on nutrition and wellness and actively participates with industry organizations and professional networks.

  • Acts a regulatory resource for Cura on Food Safety and National or State regulations.

  • Provides direction and assistance in developing or initiating new programs or systems to improve organizational effectiveness...

  • Updates applicable organizational policy and procedures and participates on the Elior North America Food Safety Committee

  • Supports culinary projects including concept development, menu development, new promotions, and other programs as needed.

  • Coordinates Wellness related projects with all business segments to ensure overall organizations objectives are achieved.

  • Other assigned duties provided by the Managing Director of Cura

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree at a US regionally accredited university or college by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience supervising dietitians or managers.

  • Previous experience managing a menu system. Menu systems implementation experience preferred. CBORD experience is preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in contract food service setting with healthcare experience.

  • Presentation experience and demonstrated ability to teach others is required.

  • Previous project management experience is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals and groups with widely varying backgrounds, perspectives, education, and skills is required.

  • Excellent work record, superior communication, cooperation, and organizational skills required.

  • Proficient computer skills and menu and nutrition systems

  • Licenses/Certified per State requirements.

  • Maintains continuing education requirements outlined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

  • Ability to lead and develop a strong team to support organizational objectives.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to travel 50% depending on business needs.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and days including regular overnight travel and ability to be flexible with travel due to sales presentations and critical business needs.

  • Ability to work in multiple work environments including in an office, client sites, and in various locations while traveling.

  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds.
